You will need: Sims 4 Tray Importer
Hopefully you already know how to download, install, and setup the program in your language. This article isn’t about that. This is how to use the program in a very specific way. Follow this instructions to be able to find and delete your duplicate files from your Mods folder. If you’re like me, you have multiple sub-folders in your Mods folder to help organize it. This can sometimes lead to duplicate files. Even if you don’t, you can sometimes download multiple versions of the same file with a (#) at the end. This will detect those as well.
After starting the Tray Importer program, go to the upper left hand corner and select FILE then Settings and go to the Advanced Tab. Check the box to “Allows to delete files” and then next to “Move files to..” select “Recycle Bin (Recommended)”. Click the save button in the top right hand corner then exit out of this settings menu.
In the next box that pops up, go to the upper right hand corner and click the large “Find” button. This will scan your mods folder for duplicate files, mod conflicts, and more. We are concerned in this article only with duplicate custom content. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of your mods folder, the speed of your hard drive, and the processing power of your computer.
All done! Your game should run a little smoother now, especially if you had a lot of duplicates like I originally did. Remember to do this routinely depending on how often you download and install custom content. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my Discord channel any time and I’ll answer as soon as I am able. Thank you for viewing.
