January 2021
Welcome to the second edition of my Monthly Mod Finds! This month is a rather eclectic collection of mods both large and small that I hope you will find as useful for your own game as I have for mine.
More Columns in CAS by Weerbesu
This is brand new to me, though I’ve heard many other people talk about it so I’m apparently late to the party. LOL Still, I think there’s more than one mod like this but this one is the most often updated and that makes it the best. This mod does exactly what it says, it expands the number of columns in CAS from two to either three, four, or five. I have mine set to four and it’s wonderful! I can’t believe I went so long without this mod! Yes, it’s that necessary; especially if you have a larger widescreen monitor.
Declutter Interactions Menu by SHEnanigans
This is an awesome mod as well. Ever since I installed the Vampires GP, I’ve regretted it. In part because of the many vampire-centric interactions that pop-up everywhere for every Sim. This mod takes those out until your Sim has at least a level 1 skill in Vampire Lore. It also takes out the “Discuss Local Fishing Spots” unless you have Fishing skill which is nice too. I noticed, in my own experience, this mod only works if you install it then start a new game. It didn’t work with my in-progress game. I don’t know if that was just me or if that’s true for everyone.
Always FullEditMode & Always Testing by TwistedMexi
For both a modder and someone who occasionally has no patience with my Sims, these two mods are absolute necessities! Drop them into your Mods folder and you will no longer have to activate testing cheats or full edit mode by typing in the codes each time you play. Now they are on automatically, all the time. It’s such a time and hassle saver! You might want to pick up a copy of TwistedMexi’s Better Exceptions while you’re there if you haven’t already because that’s an essential too.
Faithful Sims by SHUSHU
This is a mod I had been wanting to create myself but hadn’t been successful in doing so. Luckily for all of us, SHUSHU succeeded! This mod makes it so that those promiscuous little Sims are no longer quite so promiscuous when they have a significant other. They will also refuse advances from other Sims when they have a significant other! As someone who usually plays monogamously, this mod is a must-have! I highly suggest you check it out.
The HQ Mod
The link below is instructions on how to mod the game to use high-res textures and where to download high-res textures for the base game and all DLC packs plus how to convert all of your custom content to high-res that isn’t already HQ-mod ready. So the HQ Mod isn’t quite an all-in-one ready-to-go mod, it’s more of a do-it-yourself type deal. It takes a little bit of knowhow and a lot of downloading depending on the number of packs you have. Be sure to read the page I link to via the button below fully before you start modding anything. I honestly believe it’s worth it but you may not once you read what all is involved or you may see that your computer is not up to the task. HQ does look awesome though. 🙂 I’m glad I did it but it does take a lot of maintenance to keep it working right.
That’s all for January’s Finds. See you next month for more mod finds! Take care and happy modding!
