It is now Day 2 of my Sims 4 Agoraphobia Experiment. Today, Mia is attending university in the hopes of getting a degree in computer science. How will she cope with dorm life? Will she be able to keep her grades up? Read on to find out! If you missed the primer for this experiment, click here. You can find all posts of the experiment, past and future, by searching for posts with the prefix SE2 or by checking the Stories page.
Mia’s first day in her new dorm and she is struck by a ton of stress as she is surrounded by strangers. Still, she is manic and that overtakes her stressed mood. Feeling overtly energetic, she is able to get a head-start on her homework, term paper, and presentation board for this term. Getting all this work done before classes start in a couple days will be a huge boost to Mia’s final grades and make life a little easier for her in the days to come.
After capturing some info onto her presentation board, Mia asks for some feedback from a random dormmate before refining and organizing it to perfection. After that, she will edit her term paper until it is considered outstanding. Mia manages to finish both but now she is deeply depressed. Poor Mia. I wish she was able to feel some sense of accomplishment from all that she has achieved in such a short time but she apparently cannot.
Mia may be depressed but she is still able to appreciate a surprise visit from her friend Destiny. It appears Destiny really took that whole “recommend a skincare routine” thing to heart. Every time I see her she has a face mask on. (That’s from the Slice of Life mod.) Mia is constantly getting the “Alone in the Crowd” mood due to being in the crowded dorm but so far her other moods have been cancelling it out for the most part; especially her bipolar mania and depression. Still, it helps to have a friend nearby for as long as Destiny can hang around.
The next morning Mia is hungry but there is no more food in the bathroom (odd place for it anyway) so she goes down to the university kiosk and purchases a mini fridge and microwave so she can make her own quick meals any time she wants. She is then invited by a member to join the Braniacs Society (basically the school’s study group) and they gave her a new shirt to wear. Cool! I don’t know or can’t remember if I’ve had a Sim be a part of a university society before so this is new to me. I just got a notification that Mia is about to go on her period. (This is from the WickedWhims mod.) Dammit. I can’t believe I forgot to buy her birth control pills a long time ago! I must be going senile! No time like the present I guess. It also happens to be Love Day. Crap. Needless to say, Love Day did not go well as Mia was too stressed out and depressed to flirt with anyone let alone ask anyone out on a date. Maybe next year will be better, Mia. One can always hope at least.
The following day is School Spirit Day and Mia decided to have a little fun and checks it out. Hey, is that Knox Greenburg the Eco guy as the food vendor? It is! Oh how the mighty have fallen. Also, I’m not against guys wearing makeup but Mia saw a guy who needs a bit more practice before going out in public again. Maybe this was worth checking out after all!
It’s now the last day of Mia’s first term. After her last class, she went for a jog and… why are there so many staircases on this campus?? Seriously. They sell bikes on this campus too but how can you ride them will all the stairs?! Why so many stairs, dammit?!? Mia is not in the best of moods all day today, first depressed, then stressed, then miserable then stressed again. Upon returning home, she received her grades for her first term. Somehow, in spite of all her negative mood swings, she still managed to finish the term with all A+’s!! Now to sign up for her final term!
Term 2 now begins! Hey, there’s no term paper this time! Yay! Just four rounds of homework and one presentation board. We can do this, Mia! Her first two days of classes pass without incident and she manages to finish her board on time. It’s now the day of Freedom Fest which has four traditions: Fireworks, BBQ/Grilling, Being Thankful, and Water Fun. She’s able to find a grill on the campus and grill up some burgers to satisfy one tradition. The thankful one is really easy, it’s just a social interaction, but Mia doesn’t have any fireworks! I totally forgot to have her buy any! We’ll just have to settle with three out of four traditions if possible. Hey, is that Bella Goth? I thought she was missing??? It is Bella Goth! I wonder what she is doing here? (If you’re unfamiliar with the mystery surrounding Bella Goth, see here.)
Mia’s next several days of classes went well and it’s now the weekend. I’m trying to get her handiness skill up but it’s slow going even with her repairing everything that breaks in the dorm. It’s School Spirit Day again but it’s raining heavily outside so no go on that. With all her school work done, I think it’s time to check out another freelancer gig. She found one that pays around §2,700 so that will definitely do for now. Mia gets to work while on a manic high. She got the job done so quick that she ended up making over §3,100! Now she will study for her classes before going to bed.
It’s now Sunday and Mia is deeply depressed. She has a whim to have a drink at the bar due to her depression so that’s what she does. While at the bar, she listens to the Blues while sipping her juice on the rocks. After three drinks, she’s a wee bit drunk and heads back to the dorm though her walk is somewhat off. (Getting drunk from the bar drinks is from Basemental mods.)
Back at the dorm, and still inebriated, Mia meets a new Sim named Damian and they really hit it off. He’s not the best looking Sim but if he can make Mia happy… Let’s just see where this goes. Hey, at least she’s finally getting better at flirting though I think her newfound confidence has something to do with all the alcohol in her system and nothing else. Whatever works?? At least it’s good practice?? I’m really trying hard to see the bright side of this.
Eek! Last day of class snuck up on me! It’s also Rebate Day and Mia can’t buy anything in Build Mode due to living in a dorm. Damn! She’s also depressed. She’s going to go in for her three final exams while deeply depressed. Will she even be able to see those exams through all the tears? This is not going to be a good day, is it? It’s going to reflect horribly on her final grades too, isn’t it?
It’s graduation day and Mia is still depressed. Poor thing! At least she still gets her distinguished degree with honors. She’ll have tears in her eyes for all the photos though. Damn. Oh well. Time to move out of the dorm and leave university to get back to the city life of San Myshuno. Soon we’ll see how or if she puts that degree she just earned to good use.
That’s enough for today. Join Mia tomorrow as she moves back to the city and tries to move on with her life with all she learned while at the university.
