SE Day 1 In the Life
For a quick recap: the first post of this experiment ended with Mia taking a job as a freelance digital artist and then thinking about going to the city’s GeekCon. She has §400 in funds to start with after getting her apartment and the bare essentials for that apartment. With Pippie properly fed and taken outside to take care of her messy, stinky business, Mia heads off to GeekCon in the courtyard outside of her apartment building.
At first, Mia is okay and plays a few video games on the consoles provided at the con but before she can attempt to look at the awesome cosplayers, she is hit by her first depressive episode and incredible sadness. She enters the hackathon regardless but achieves last place and gets no prize. She then plays with the 3D gaming rig but her heart just isn’t in it as you can see in the screenshot. For the most part, she did not enjoy her day at the con at all and sullenly returned to her apartment to get some sleep.
Unfortunately, Mia’s neighbors had other ideas. They were having a party so loud that Mia was unable to go to bed to get any sleep. She had the option of knocking on their door to ask them to quiet down but that’s not something I would easily be able to do. Instead, she did what I would do; angrily and anxiously continued to work on her art projects and waited for the party to end so she could finally get some sleep. She had to wait until 1:30am but finally the party ended and all was quiet. She then fell fast asleep.
The next morning, Pippie wakes Mia up before she is fully rested. Rather than get mad at the cute puppy, the two bond and become companions. Mia’s depressive episode has ended but only to be replaced by a manic episode. Her energy level is unusually high due to the mania. When she goes into the kitchen to fix some breakfast, she is met by some roaches crawling on the floor and wall. She has the options to take care of them herself or call the landlord and complain. Even manic, I would have trouble making such a phone-call so I had Mia eradicate them herself. At first she only makes things worse but the second try is successful and the roaches are gone. For now.
While Mia was busy with her work, Pippie found a puddle to play in and got filthy. Mia has neither the space nor money for a bath tube and you can’t brush puppies clean. I’m not sure what we’re going to do about Mia’s dirty puppy just yet.
On the bright side, Mia finished the first milestone of her painting aspiration and now has painting skill level 6. Time for another and higher paying freelance gig! She took a job to create a band tour poster for §320. She currently has §859 after selling some paintings and it’s lottery day. Should she buy a ticket which costs §100? Maybe to get a better apartment? She entered but…. didn’t win.
It’s still early but Mia is manic and full of energy so I sent her to the local gym to try and work off some of her weight. She didn’t really talk to anyone and didn’t ask for anyone to mentor her but she did “push the limits” and worked out until completely fatigued. No change yet but I didn’t expect one on the first try. Time to get back to her apartment and take another freelance gig for more §§§.
Back at her apartment, Mia has collected enough satisfaction points to buy the “Creative Visionary” reward trait which will increase the quality of her paintings. Hopefully it will increase the quality of her freelance work as well so she doesn’t have to do so many edits. She later created another painting and wow, does this look eerily familiar or what? It looks so much like something I would create or have created. Wow!
I could be wrong, but I think between the exercise and eating nothing but salads, Mia is starting to lose some weight! If only I had someone forcing me to eat nothing but salad for every meal and a free gym pass….
I’ve also noticed that between her work, moods, and fears, her sleep schedule is very irregular… very much like my own sleep schedule! This is so weird yet I somehow think I should have expected it too. I’m starting to be glad I thought up this experiment. It’s like looking through a window into a mirror.
The Flea Market is now in town and Mia is manic as hell so it’s time for a manic shopping spree! She bought a new couch, a floor lamp, a decorative lotus lamp, and a shit-load of collectible snowglobes. After buying all that, she went home feeling depressed. Damn, that’s so damn familiar!! I figure I’ll have Mia collect snowglobes the way that I collect Funko Pops. If only I could dig through random boxes on the street to find new and rare Pops without getting arrested like she does snowglobes! You can see Mia’s collection thus far in the screenshot below.
That’s all for Day 1. Please come back tomorrow for Day 2. I think tomorrow I’m going to try to find Mia a friend as she currently has no friends. Maybe she could look around for a boyfriend too or at least someone to flirt with? Tune in to find out what happens tomorrow! Same Bat-Channel! LOL
