SE Day 9 Home for the Holidays
Today we celebrate the beloved holidays of Winterfest and New Year’s Eve as the first Sim year of this experiment comes to an end. (My Sim years are 8 weeks long with two weeks per season.) Soon, Mia will make her way to the jungle for her grand adventure but first she must prep for the journey and celebrate the holidays with her family.
It’s Winterfest in Sulani! There’s no room in their little house for a tree to decorate so a simple pile of presents it is! After a Grand Meal of a ham dinner, Mia and Seth go to the presents pile and take turns opening gifts. Mia received a set of candles and Seth got a Robot Vacuum Dock. Um, okay. Good thing I can instantly resell stuff like this rather than having to wait in long return lines! Now to wait for Father Winter to show up so that that tradition can be completed as well.
Okay, both of my Sims are very tired and this old fart won’t leave! There’s no “Ask to Leave” option for him and saying “Goodbye” didn’t work. I guess they’ll just go to bed and hope that he gets the hint. Yay, he finally left at nearly 2am but not until after dirtying up a few dishes without washing them. Lucky for him he left good presents or my Sims might have gotten upset!
I am in the process of building a new, larger house in Sulani for Mia and her family. It is still a work in progress but I’m getting close to having it completed and ready for them to move into. It’s not the most stylish home but I’m trying my best. I’m not a great house builder and decorator by any means but that’s okay. As long as it is functional and easy to live in, I’ll be happy and so will my Sims.
The next day is “Night On the Town” day. (Didn’t that already happen this year?) Since all restaurants are free today, Mia and Seth went to Chez Llama because it has by far the most expensive menu. (I think I’ve said that before too.) Seth is deeply embarrassed about his acne breakout and Mia is depressed. Luckily, Mia’s depressive episode passes by the time she’s ready to order the food and she is able to enjoy her dinner date. I’m not sure Seth did but he toughed it out anyway.
Now it is New Year’s Eve and both Seth and Mia went to the Sulani Fishing Competition and fished for a few hours. No winner was ever announced but I don’t know if that’s because they didn’t stay long enough or I messed something else up. They then went home by nightfall and ate a dinner made from the fish they had just caught then each one made their New Year’s Resolutions. I went the easy route on those. Seth resolved to write a book and Mia resolved to raise a skill level.
That’s it for the holiday season and for today. Join us tomorrow when Mia finally takes her planned archaeological trip to Selvadorada to hunt for temple ruins and ancient artifacts. Will she return home victorious and with loads of treasure or will she be cursed by the ancient gods? Find out tomorrow!
