Simularity Update 087
I finally have mod updates for you and LOTS of them including both function updates, compatibility updates, and new international translations! For a quick recap of all the mod updates with links, you can always check the Mod Updates page or continue to read this update. At the end of this post, I’ll talk a bit about what’s to come in the near future!
I rebalanced the skill learning speeds for both the Artist Trait and the Techie Trait so that Sims won’t learn skills so extremely fast if they have these traits plus complimentary lot traits and moods. It was annoying me during my playthroughs! I also edited the Techie Trait so that video gaming on both computers and the video game consoles are now more FUN than ever so they will fulfill that need quickly and fully.
I also noticed during my most recent playthrough that my Faster Programming Mod wasn’t working quite right and had no effect on the early Freelance Programmer career tasks. I have completely recoded this mod so now it works as it should and now speeds up Freelancer tasks as well.
Another thing that happened during my most recent playthrough was that my Sim’s dog ran away and that shouldn’t happen with my trait in use! I fixed the Happy Go Lucky Dog Trait so now dogs will NEVER be able to run away regardless of whether you use the regular version or the “no death” version. I have tested this for a full Sim year and no runaways yet. I’d say it works now.
As per a request, I updated the Semi-Long Lifespan Mod to work with the latest patches and to also work for pets. Keep in mind that the MCCC Mod by Deaderpool has its own age settings and will not work with this mod. You’ll have to set ages manually with that mod installed.
Although the most recent game pack, Wedding Stories, isn’t all it was meant to be it still introduced a new venue type. So, I updated my Wedding Venue Lot Trait to now work on wedding venues. Makes sense, right?
I updated the Plopsy Seller Part-Time Job late last year, but I have since completely forgot what I changed/updated. I just know it was something important and I’ve tested it recently to make sure it still works. That’s also important.
Thanks to the user Venedie who was kind enough to create and send me mod translations, I have been able to update several of my mods with new Polish translations! The following mods have been updated with Polish translations: Mad Scientist Aspiration, Scientist Extraordinaire Aspiration, Alien Zone Lot Trait, Graveyard Lot Trait, Merfolk Cove Lot Trait, Possessed Grounds Lot Trait, Wedding Venue Lot Trait, Clinical Depression Trait, Green Thumb Trait, and Paranormal Trait.
In non-mod related news, I have published a new Mod Finds article for the month of March 2022. In case you have forgotten, and who could blame you, these articles feature random mods from other creators that I have happened to come across for my own game and wish to share the links to them with you. We modders need to support each other! I have also updated my Sims 4 Essential Mods article with a couple new suggestions for you.
I am strongly considering adding instant downloads to Simularity in addition to the off-site downloads that I currently use. Actually, I might delete SimFileShare links since it’s such a pain to keep updated unlike Google Drive and Dropbox. I am still thinking about it all currently. I’ll let you know when I make a decision. If you have any comments/concerns, please leave a reply on this post or post on my Discord server so I can hear you out. There’s also a new poll about this on the front page!
I had planned on releasing a new mod today but decided that I want to tweak it just a bit more before I release it. That means I will have at least one brand new mod for you in my next site update! Hopefully more than that soon…
I’m not sure if the Bake Everything in Oven Mod and the Experimental Food without a Chef Station Mod are still working or not. I just realized they were not in my Mods folder when I did my last round of compatibility testing. I’m guessing they are broken, and I took them out of my folder because of that before my hiatus. So, I will work on fixing them for my next update.
I have several mods in various stages of development that I am currently working on and some that I started on before my hiatus. One is a really cool new custom career that has about half of the coding now finished, I think. I still need to do more coding work on it, and I plan to add chance cards to it plus I still need to test it out with a full playthrough. It has two branches so actually I’ll need to do two playthroughs. I’ve got two more custom careers in the brainstorming stage, and I plan to add chance cards to at least one maybe two of my currently available custom careers.
After trying to go through my backlog of messages that were sent to me during my hiatus (I haven’t been able to go through them all as some expired or got lost), I have found/received some new mod requests. Feel free to send in more as well! I have in the works one of those requests now. My only hint is that it involves one of my current lot traits and will include my first lot challenge.
Something else I’d like to learn to create are custom scenarios. I just need to refine my ideas for some and then finish figuring out the coding for them. There are also a few game fixes I’d like to try and create as well. Nothing for the Wedding pack as I am still holding out hope that Maxis will fix it but for stuff that we’ve been waiting for fixes for for so long that it’s clear they aren’t going to fix them.
That’s enough rambling for now. I’ll see you in a few days with my next update. Thank you for viewing and sticking with me!
